Sequoia High Cheer Team Wins National Title

The team traveled to Anaheim to compete last weekend.

Congratulations to the Sequoia High School Cheer Team on winning First Place at the USA High School Spirit Nationals in Anaheim, Calif.

Thirty-seven cheerleaders from the team of 50 traveled last weekend to compete against "the best of the best" for a championship title.

Only the top 35 percent of the teams in each division or category advance to finals and compete again the following day. The Sequoia Cheer Team was excited to move on to the finals - a first for all of the girls and boys on the team, many who are new to cheerleading.

Coach Stacy Morell said it was "the ultimate experience" for Sequoia to come out on top.

"I am so proud of this team. Not only did they put on a good show, but they work hard every day," Morell said. "I am impressed at what we've accomplished together."

"Sequoia Cheer is representative of our entire athletic program - continuously improving and full of pride."

See video of the team's winning performance above.
