BRSSD First School Enrollment Period Ends Today

New K-5 students in the Belmont-Redwood Shores School District need to enroll by 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29.

The first of three enrollment periods for students in the (BRSSD) for the 2012-2013 school year ends Wednesday at 4 p.m. All enrollments must be completed in person at the BRSSD office, 2960 Hallmark Drive.

This first enrollment period is for:

  • New kindergarten through grade 5 students with a currently enrolled sibling;
  • New k-5 students without an enrolled sibling, and;
  • Students in grades 6-8 who are new to the district (this does not apply to current 5th graders).

Students who have enrolled during this period will be notified of their school assignment on April 1, 2012.

To enroll, parents should bring the following:

  • An enrollment form is required (can be downloaded from district website, www.brssd.org)
  • Proof of residency
  • Health report

Second and third enrollment periods

The second enrollment period, which will run from March 1-June 8, 2012, is for students who have moved to the district on or after March 1, 2012, or for anyone who missed the first enrollment. These students will be notified of their school assignment by July 1, 2012.

And for those students who have moved to the district after the last day of the current school year, or those who missed the second enrollment period, a third enrollment period will run from June 11-August 24, 2012. These students will be notified of their school assignment by August 29, 2012.

School assignments

According to school district officials, it is likely that students will attend one of the elementary schools closest to the school that have available room. During its recent new assignment process, district officials found that 97 percent of the current kindergarteners would have been assigned to one of the two elementary schools closest to their home.
