Predict Who Will Win the 2012 Presidential Election: Obama or Romney?

Now that the Democratic and Republican delegates have officially chosen their nominees at their Conventions, Patch wants to know: Who are you betting on?

It's official: With President Barack Obama's acceptance speech in Charlotte Thursday night, both the Republicans and Democrats have formally chosen their nominees for the 2012 presidential election. Let the real race begin.

A lot can change between now and Nov. 6: gaffes, scandals or even major international news events could shift the dynamics of the campaign.

The latest Gallup Polls show registered voters preferring Obama to Mitt Romney by just one percentage point, 47 percent to 46 percent. A USA Today/Gallup poll taken just before the party conventions found American voters think Obama is more likeable, but trust Romney more to handle the economy.

Pundits have been busy for months handicapping the major-party candidates on various factors: incumbent advantage, fundraising clout, even religion.

Patch wants to know: Regardless of who you support for President, who do you think will actually claim victory in November?

Vote in our poll below, and let us know your reasoning in the comments.

Yum--I love cheese, particularly a nice Cambozol or Bleu de Bresse. Add some crusty bread and a bottle of Reisling, and you have a perfect summer evening.

I'm with you Justin. Go President Obama! The only smart, compassionate choice for President in 2012!
DM September 10, 2012 at 10:23 PM
Betty, Please. During his term President Obama has killed more people managing the wars he promised to end than President Bush did in all of his eight years in office. This is neither smart nor compassioniate and leaves anyone with a conscience with a very clear choice. I'll bet if you knew anyone who has served one (or several) tours fighting Obama's three-year long retreat from Afghanistan you wouldn't think he was so smart or at all compassionate. I participated in The Walk for Syria this weekend across the Golden Gate. It was a well attended effort to focus attention on the horrific conditions and human rights violations occuring there. Perhaps 1/3 of the home-made signs were anti-Obama in nature. People know the President is in over his head and self-serving at the expense of others. Keep your eyes open for another march in the near future. It would be great to see you there. Oddly, I thought Democrats were for human rights and the dignity of the individual?...but it sounds like these values only apply when a Republican's in the White House. Democrats like Justin and yourself are good soldiers I'll give you that! Unbelievable.

Do you really think it'll be any different or any better with Romney at the helm? I do know one thing if (God forbid) Romney does manage to get elected, it'll make it so much easier to a Dem in the White House in 2016.
Kali September 11, 2012 at 07:26 AM
Oh please Justin, This guy has had 4 years to make a difference. The first 2 years the Dems had full control and could not even pass a budget amoungst themselves. If the Repubs rejected it, this bill probabaly had alot of the same garbage in it like Obamacare, for which Nancy said you had to read it ot find out what's in it. Well, we are all starting to find out what's in it. The POTUS has added 5 trillion dollars to our debt. He has been given ample money to improve this economy. Nothing. Now we hear the Fed may do another QE3 bond buying program. Which in simple terms just gives more money to banks that still don't lend. This will futher destory our dollar for nothing. He has no real plan. He prefers to talk about everything but jobs. We tried someone new. He failed. We all do. But you know what most companies do? They hire someone new. I prefer someone with business experience. Heck, any experience. The POTUS had no experience at anything before he came. A Lawyer and community organizer do not count.

I agree. great post
Kali September 11, 2012 at 07:29 AM
good one..
Kali September 11, 2012 at 07:36 AM
I think it is pretty obvious why he wants people on food stamps ( and other free programs ). It's all about control. He, and the people he works with, want this. Destroy the dollar so more people are on the Government dole, and guess what you get. I will leave that everyone's imaginaton.
Kali September 11, 2012 at 07:37 AM
Betty, please explain why.
Adrian Jordan September 11, 2012 at 07:16 PM
You better believe Mitt Romney will cut any social programs that help people in need and that's going to cut a lot of jobs. Most social programs are utilized by the working poor or just people who get caught in a bad financial situation, like death, loss of job, etc. so things will become worse not better with oh MItt in office.
Andrew Peceimer September 11, 2012 at 08:53 PM
Adrian I suggest you watch the following video. http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/EW5IdwltaAc?rel=0 It is quite clear you do not read or pay attention to the US Debt. I wish more people would as it will cause more problems than anyone can imagine. Moodys will most likley downgrade the US Credit soon due to Obama and Bush's irresponsible spending.

ITA! If I wanted this kind of content, I'd be over on CNN. As it is, look at the nastiness and low level of discourse below. That is reason enough to avoid these kinds of topics here.
Justin September 12, 2012 at 08:27 PM
Andrew--are you ok? You just blamed Bush for something :)
Chris D September 13, 2012 at 08:21 PM
Let's all pray Obama gets re-elected. If Romney gets it, we will all be dead in a couple of days. No one wants an idiot for president. MITT THE TWIT!! Obama 2012- let's move forward!
Andrew Peceimer September 13, 2012 at 09:05 PM
Justin, I am not a Bush fan and I am not a fan of blaming someone else for 3 years as an excuse for having no economic policy ofther than spedning trillions today and leaving bills for the younger generation. I am a fan of learning from past mistakes like Bush's huge spending which you and most Democrats want to continue. Now do you feel better?
Andrew Peceimer September 13, 2012 at 09:10 PM
Chris D, Excellent cheer! Now can you help with a generous donation to pay off your $50,000 part of the national debt with the help of Obama's irresponsilbe spending?
mike wayne September 16, 2012 at 06:25 AM
Team Obama ! Cause as soon as mitt romney get elected ..your grandparents or mentally retarded kids will no longer get money to help u take care of them ..and once that's gone people will go insane rob ,kill , still and everything will be a disaster!
Andrew Peceimer September 17, 2012 at 04:04 PM
Mike, Could you give us some evidence instead of just silly campaign slogans?
Bob September 21, 2012 at 04:36 PM
Best line I have heard to summarize it was "4 years of hope wasted, time for a change"

Marylu, Next time how about posting something more than just inane comments?
Justin September 24, 2012 at 04:34 AM
Good old friendly Andrew. You can always count on him for some pleasantry.

Justin September 25, 2012 at 05:53 PM
John--you actually answered the question of this thread, "Predict who will win the election." Congratulations! I answered that eons ago, and Vin/Andy have yet to answer. I agree--Obama will win. FYI--expect an insult by Andy/Vinnie in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.. The neocons are desperate, as evidenced by the childish insults they hurled at me. I'm still crying.

Looks like "Pinocchio" Romney is at it again! YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Vice President Joe Biden and former President Bill Clinton have criticized Mitt Romney for saying that Chrysler is shifting production of its Jeep brand autos from Ohio to China. Jeep, a major employer in Ohio, has said it is adding jobs in China to meet growing demand there but is not halting production in North America. Campaigning together in the crucial swing state, Clinton said that Jeep has called Romney's claim "the biggest load of bull in the world."
