Two Major Homeless Nonprofits to Merge

Shelter Network and InnVision have merged into InnVision Shelter Network which is now one of the largest providers of homeless services in Northern California.

As of July 1, 2012, InnVision the Way Home and Shelter Network have merged to become one organization.

The combined organization supports over 20,000 homeless men, women and children annually.

The organization’s leaders hail the move as a means to reduce administrative costs by consolidating operation and as a means to leverage the best practices of both organizations.

“In this economic climate, the consolidation of nonprofits is smart business,” said Karae Lisle, who was selected as the new CEO of the organization after previously leading Shelter Network.

“Together we will become an even better organization—motivated by a commitment to public service, and guided by a management philosophy of efficiency, high quality and collaboration.”

According to estimates by InnVision Shelter Network, over 50 homeless families are unable to find accommodation in San Mateo County on any given night due to lack of facilities.

The organization hopes that its merge will enable it to allocate more of its combined $16 million budget to addressing these pressing needs.

Local political leaders embraced the merger as an innovative move that will benefit the community.

“By joining together, InnVision Shelter Network will be stronger and better able to positively effect change among our fellow citizens in need, ultimately promoting the overall health of our community,” said Rep. Zoe Lofgren.
