Quiz Tells You Whether Obama or Romney Best Matches Your Stance

This online free quiz takes an in-depth look at your stance on a range of issues, then compares them to candidates' responses.

The selection of U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan as Republican candidate Mitt Romney's running mate has put the presidential race back on the front burner in Redwood City.

And based on the , there are a wide variety of issues that concern readers in Redwood City and elsewhere when it comes to who will end up in the White House.

But do you really know which presidential candidate best matches your stance on those issues?

A new website launched earlier this year to help voters match up with their ideal candidate, and it's quickly gaining popularity through social media channels. In fact, according to iSideWith.com's homepage, more than a million people have taken the free quiz to determine their ideal candidate since it launched in March.

The quiz covers everything from social issues to foreign policy and answers can be fine tuned: You can choose general or more detailed responses, and a scale allows you to set the level of importance for each issue. Your responses are then analyzed to determine your ideal candidate, complete with a breakdown of your response matches.

Among the people who took the quiz in California, their positions matched President Barack Obama's 55 percent of the time — more than any other candidate. Surprisingly, Californians' views matched Green Party candidate Jill Stein at 48 percent, followed by Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson's positions 47 percent of the time, and GOP candidate Ron Paul at 35 percent.

And what about Romney? Just 32 percent of Californians who took the quiz have the same views as he does on the key issues.

Seems to be a pretty handy tool, but does it work? You tell us. Take the free quiz on iSideWith.com and let us know what you think. Is the candidate it matched with you the candidate you plan to vote for?

I want to see all of Obama's college paperwork, who paid for his tuition, how many names did he use? He's a LIAR. Nothing more nothing less,I saw a video where Obama and his "wife" were at a Flag raising and she said to him " All this for a Flag" and he shook his head, the Hell with him and his ungrateful bitch.

I agree with you 100%. The Republicans from day one set out to make Obama fail and the Democratic Party. If the Extreme right would only read up on Romney and his bad business they might think twice about voting for him. He had ownership of a company named "Bain" which owned a company that owned Stericycle. They are paid to dispose of aborted babies, so Romney was making a profit from abortion. His package that he passed in Mass. paid for abortions, while Pres. Obama's doesn't. Romney changes with the weather. He is not for me. Plus what was Obama to do with the mess that was given to him from Bush? Was he to let GM go under, which has turned around now and employing thousands, paid back it's loan and now a successful business. Was he to sit back and let the people w/o ins continue to cost the American tax payers millions in increased health cost because many couldn't pay? With health care their health care costs are down for all. The faults story that his health care program took millions from SS is unreal. The Federal Dept of Accounting stated it takes nothing from Social Security. READ and you might see through all the faults stories. (Rev.) David

Big Sam. If you want this country to repeat what Bush did vote for Romney. The republicans will lower taxes for the rich. Now guess who is going to be responsible for the actual money needed to run the country, the middle class. Romney has made it extremely clear that his priority is the rich, He wants to deregulate just ilke Bush did, Guess waht will happen? The banks and financial institutions will make so much money and send the country into a mess bigger than waht we had when we finally got rid of Bush. I believe if Obama was white the republicans would have made more of and effort to work with him for the good of the country. You will not get any republican to admit this but just look at there record during the 4years Obama has been in office. The US should not speak about other countries human rights policy. The US is an extremely racist country and will always be one. One thing i am very sure of is that sooner or later people are going to rise up and fight for the rights that were stated in the constitution. All men are created equal. ( What a joke that is)

Obama IS white, he just doesn't like to talk about it.
lucky libra September 04, 2012 at 05:23 PM

"Charity" for cons mostly means churches.., which assumes that said church is doing good works and not lining Pastor Flash's pockets. BTW, '2016' is a work of rightist propaganda....right up there with Goebbels! The producer's hoping the sheep will buy it.
corboomr September 05, 2012 at 02:35 PM
Hey "Erlinda," what, have you posted about 200 times, pushing your propaganda? Give it a rest.
Becky September 05, 2012 at 02:50 PM
I voted for Obama and will again. But if Romney wins (God forbid) I will survive and do quite fine since I am upper middle class and know he will take care of my wallet. I feel bad for the lower middle class fools who will vote for Mittens thinking he will look out for their best interests and the interests of the children and crandchildren. hahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahaha. You think your life sucks now, wait for it to get worse. LOLOLOLOLOLOL.

Obama is for Gay Marriage. He will appoint activist to the Supreme Court which will take away the states rights to regulate marriage and Gay Marriage will become the law of the land. The Democratic Party has removed the word God from it's platform. Enough said!
jim stewart September 05, 2012 at 05:59 PM
No he will crush lower middle white males chances for advancement thru affirmative action. Already in Obamacare there is a quota for white males entering medical school. Only a certain number will be allowed and then no more. Didn't the Soviet Union once treat their citizens like this? The Supreme Court has already ruled this practice of quotas as being unconstitutional. But let us not forget Obama likes to circumvent the constitution with executive orders. Maybe we shouldn't have listened to the Speaker of the House when she stated "now that we have passed this bill, we can now read it." Oh Yea! Didn't Obama promise for us to see a bill on C-Span 72 hrs. before it's voted on? Another broken campaign promise. 16 trillion in debt and now we'll have to borrow more from China, Japan, ect to pay for Obamacare. Soon this country will be completely broke, undereducated, and a military whimp.
jim stewart September 05, 2012 at 06:25 PM
Bill Clinton did not balance the budget. Presidents do not do this. The Constitution does not allow them to. The Republican controlled congress sent Clinton 6 balanced budgets. He signed the sixth one. He also stated balancing the budget wasn't his first priority because he wanted Hilarycare passed. Clinton put in workfare over welfare. Obama has just overturned this. To get elected the Democrats need to have the people dependant on government handouts and uninformed about the truth. Soon 50% ot the U.S. population will pay no federal income taxes. All will vote for the Democrats. I will too. I own a small business and work long hours. Why should I work when the government will pay for me not to work! What a sucker I am being a Republican and working for a living. Obama I surrender! I going to quit being an independant thinker and join your welfare state. Please Mr.Obama, send me federal money and free medical care to take care of my family. I don't want to work any more. I want to have 5 more kids! Will you take care of them?

How about a cadidate who will release his college transcripts and other pertinant information. We know by his own words he was a pothead in high school (when he even went to school) tax returns are nothing, IDIOT

I do not know why all americans do not just sit back and look at where we are as a nation. We are losing at every corner, please think for yourself and be reasonable. If you really look at all the problems you would see we need to make a change. Can Romney change this, not sure but I believe he is better equiped to get jobs and taxes under control, so yes I think and I vote. Veteran

One thing is certain. Any entity, no matter how big or small, cannot go on forever spending twice as much as it brings in. Sooner or later said entity will collapse under the burden of it's debt. America has 16 trillion dollars in debt, and is spending twice as much as it is bringing in. No matter who is to blame that is a cold hard fact. Unless this country gets its fiscal house in order, we are going to fail amd fail big! With this in mind, I urge everyone to vote for the man who they think can turn the governments addiction to big spending around. We now are running 1.2 trillion in deficits per year. That is $1,200,000,000,000.00 I think that is right? There are so many stinking zeroes there it is hard to count all of them. If things don't change......WE ARE SCREWED !!!!!!!
Reggie W September 09, 2012 at 01:28 AM
I hate to break this to you but people who receive food stamps do NOT pay taxes. Actually, anyone making $30,000 or less do NOT pay taxes. It's so easy to fact check anyone if you have google. I wish politicians and commentators here and elsewhere realize this.
Ron Robinson September 10, 2012 at 05:46 PM
President Obama did'nt create the disaster which today is our economy! He's only trying to clean up something that the former idiot of an empty brain left behind (Bush). He's getting blamed by people that want to feel protected, but not joined the Armed Services. Or perhaps you're just a Racist at heart? Republicans...you're so far away from being righteous, as you're judging be prepared to meet the Ultimate Judge one day (God). If you need something to do other than to sit around and be programmed by Limbaugh & Hannity, get up and go look for the weapons of mass destruction. Remember... 8 years of nothing from Bush left us in this crisis, not our present day President (OBAMA). Deal with it! An 8 Trillion Dollar Surplus by the former President Clinton turns into debt unimaginable by greedy party! Get a Life!!!!
Dee September 11, 2012 at 03:26 PM
Obama is a DISGRACE! His administration is ruining this country! GET HIM OUT!!! And his racist and pathetic wife too!
Les September 11, 2012 at 03:26 PM
Very succintly stated, Gary and a little closer to some perspectives of reality. I believe that the only great decisions are those made after strong research initiatives and then... an identification of all biases presented in what was read. What is happening here is not and never has been the fault of O'bama. If people will deeply enough they will have to recognize that many gave up because an answer could not be readily found. The hard answers would cost an election and that is what drives a paycheck. Washington has been broken and steeped in greed for a very long time. Getting 'decisions' through that will cost the constituents? A very rough road, indeed. Obama is not a god, there is no magic, and there is a war on between parties that comes before the desires and, in some cases, even the needs of people. Power and money...Obama has done exceptionally well to remain upright. I believe he is giving the best of himself and that he is listening, which is much better than inaccurate and idiotic lip service. It is astounding to me that so many believe Romney's economic package is better --- especially because he has not disclosed one. Well done, Gary

GOP is for not caring for the unemployed, homeless, and poor THROUGH THE GOVERNMENT! They are not opposed to caring for them as individuals or private organizations. The democrat "robin hoods" steal from the (other) rich, give some to the poor to buy their votes, and then save a good portion for themselves. They also fail to screen out the people who pose as the poor to take benefits when they could provide for themselves. Moochers have hurt the poor more than anybody else, because they steal from both the poor and the people who want to give, and crush people's generosity. Regarding abortion, you are right. The GOP does need to listen to its smaller government message and stay out of women's reproductive rights. There are republicans who are pro-choice, though. Have our own PAC and everything. I am pro-choice, and I still vote republican, and plan to in November. When you don't have the basic right to work and use the earnings from your work to support yourself without assistance from the man, the rest of your rights are at risk - including the right to make your own reproductive choices. Also, whether or not to have an abortion is not a choice that has to be made often. There are much more common health choices that government-run healthcare will take from you. And, if you are concerned about rape, you need to support candidates who support our second-amendment rights so that we can protect ourselves and hopefully not become a victim in the first place.

David; I never met a Christian I didn't like. Untill I got the Sales Pitch for God. Maybe you could tone down the sales thing. Thats why I think most people don't like God or Religion. Its that fake smile, everything will be wonderful, buy my Religion stuff that turns most people off. Don't you get anoyed at that girl dressed in white selling progressive insurance? Same thing. I am conservative, don't want Religion. And Roe vs. Wade is a good thing. Free choice is where its at.

I will make an intellegent decision based on the facts and then I will make my voice heard by voting on election day.

Haha, this is still going on. Silly people, start getting ready for the next election. You only have four years to spread your "Republican" word. Until then, we will be working on paying back all those bills. Good day!
