Repair Work Scheduled for Hwy 1 in San Mateo County

One-way traffic control will be implemented at pre-scheduled times beginning Monday night, Sept. 26, through Oct. 7.

Caltrans will implement one-way traffic control on a portion of state Highway 1 south of Pacifica starting Monday night.

The closure will allow crews to repair damage from rockslides roughly half a mile south of Linda Mar Boulevard. A new concrete wall will be built on the hill above the southbound lane.

The one-way traffic control will begin at 7 p.m. Monday and last until 7 a.m. Tuesday, and repeat nightly until Saturday morning. Starting Oct. 3, one-way traffic control will be implemented during the day, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., until Oct. 7.

The project was previously scheduled to begin in late August, but was delayed when Caltrans geologists and engineers discovered that deterioration on the hillside required more preliminary work. Drivers are advised to expect delays in the area.
