Poll: Council to Approve Garbage Rate Increases, Would You?

The city council is slated to approve a 7.81% garbage rate increase at tonight's meeting. Do you think this is fair?

If the city doesn’t receive written protests from more than 50 percent of Redwood City by 5 p.m. today, your garbage rates will .

Garbage provider, Recology, explained that higher costs and lower than anticipated revenues are to blame.

Protests can still be sent to Solid Waste Rates, City Clerk, City of Redwood City, 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA 94063, or presented to the City Council prior to the close of the Public Hearing.

Comparatively, Atherton has approved a 31 percent rate increase whereas San Carlos has a proposed 5.3 percent increase.
