Pink Is Definitely Sheriff Munks' Color

The San Mateo County sheriffs will wear pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and San Mateo County sheriff's deputies will be showing their support all month by wearing pink, San Mateo County Sheriff Greg Munks announced.

Deputies have received authorization to wear pink T-shirts throughout the month, which is dedicated to educating people about the disease. Pink has become the official color of breast cancer awareness efforts.

Within the sheriff's office, Capt. John Quinlan and Lt. Tom Gallagher said they both have family members who have had breast cancer. In their family members' and all cancer victims' honor, an official sheriff's office breast cancer awareness T-shirt was created.

The pink shirt shows the sheriff's star and a pink remembrance ribbon on the front and back. The shirt is available for $10, and proceeds
will go toward local breast cancer charities.

The shirts are available at the Sheriff's Criminal Records Unit on the third floor of the Hall of Justice in Redwood City, or at the San Carlos sheriff's substation or the Half Moon Bay sheriff's substation.

Vanessa and ctpiazza, Buckley Stone at Pete's Harbor says it is because some time ago the CityRead More dredged near muni and ran a pipe under to spill it out at Bair Island, so it is actually the remains of rotting sea life. He knows so much about this area having been at Pete's for 20 years and knowing so much about the area the tides and the nature and land around here.
