Patch Wants Your Questions for Obama and Romney During the Next Presidential Debate

If you have a question for the candidates, submit it in the comments section below and it could be asked during the televised Oct. 16 Town Hall Presidential Debate.

San Mateo County residents were glued to the TV at various viewing parties for the first presidential debate and clearly determined a victor.

Now we're gearing up for Round 2: here’s your chance for the presidential candidates to address the issues that most matter to you.

The next presidential debate will be a town hall meeting format at Hofstra University in Long Island, where voters will ask President Obama and Mitt Romney about domestic and foreign policy.

Patch is asking you, our readers, to participate by submitting questions for the candidates.

All you have to do is post your question in the comments section below and we’ll send it to the Commission on Presidential Debates. The Commission is partnering with Patch's parent company Aol, along with Google and Yahoo, to take questions from web users across the country.

So who do you think will win Debate #2? What questions do you want both candidates to answer? Share your thoughts in the comments!

President Obama: Why is it that on your promotional book jacket in 1991 it stated, "Barack Obama, the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review, was born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii", and yet you provided the media with a Photoshopped birth certificate that stated you were born in Hawaii, USA? Which one is it? And why is it that your Social Security Number begins with a Connecticut prefix? How is that possible? And why did you spend over $2 million to seal your school records from Columbia, Occidental, etc.? What exactly are you hiding? And why weren't the requests for additional security for U.S. personnel in Libya honored? And what crime exactly are you accusing Mitt Romney of with respect to his income taxes? Please be specific. Thank you in advance, Mr. President, for being forthcoming on these questions many Americans want answered.

You can't be african-american and born in Kenya. The fact that birthers repudiate Occam's razor for this issue isn't surprising... at least they're consistent (see global warming, evolution.) However, nobody seems to point out the book jacket has a typo (or what I would call a thinko) whichever way you swing. If he's African-American, he's not born in Kenya. If he's born in Kenya, he's not African-American. The rest you can try reading about on a site not called drudge report, breitbart, rushlimbaugh, etc and get some perspective.

I guess I would ask Romney if his "tax cut" is going to be "revenue neutral": how the bloody hell is that a tax cut? If you want to talk about tax code reform, call it that. I do believe your constituents have been led to believe they will get cuts, however.
Jo Tog October 08, 2012 at 11:35 PM
I would ask Obama why he has to run every decision through Iranian born Valerie Jarrett. I would ask Obama why his law license was revoked. I would ask Obama why his bundler is in China. I would ask obama who funded his education. I would ask obama who bought his new home in Hawaii for 35 million. Where did obama get that money.

Ulsterman is just a wannabe limbaugh/hannity. Maybe one day you will be able to form an opinion of your own.

President Obama, why do you think you can invest better than the American entrepreneur? I thought the government was not supposed to be risking our money in crazy investments. Please explain? http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/10/08/lg-plant-that-got-150m-to-make-volt-batteries-in-michigan-puts-workers-on/

President Obama: I had no choice but to trust you when you insisted on using my hard earned tax dollars to bail out GM, as well as the banks that were "too big to fail", and to subsidize you pet green projects that did fail, e.g., Solyndra, Tesla, Fisker. So why was it, at least in the case of GM, that you put me last in line to be repaid? And standing ahead of me in line, most noticeably and as far as the eye can see, was your union buddies/donors. Is this a case of Chicago-style corruption or just good ol' chrony capitalism?

Ulsterman's Insiders all gave information that came true. He is no wannabe. Read more here about what liberal Lara Logan has to say about Obama. Remember her? She was the journalist who was raped by 200 men while reporting on Obama's Arab Spring. Raped by 200 would have left her near death. Penthouse letters are not news.

Why didn't Obama give BILLIONS of dollars in tax breaks to US manufacturers of actual products that people buy everyday instead of wasting all that money on HIS personal "pet projects"? Now he ran us up in debt so high that our credit rating has been downgraded, which means we couldn't afford in the first place the money he wasted. So now he wants to raise oor taxes because his agenda failed. He has to go. Like him or hate him -- personal choice, but the fact is we can't afford him.

From Redwood City-Woodside Patch's Facebook page, a question from reader Chris Vurnis: "If the government under a Democratic Party leadership would wish to take on the cause of paying for health care, or reducing the expenses of it, would the government seek to ban the use of items in the food supply known to be of no value and highly damaging for consumption to everyone? Examples would be bleached flours, high fructose corn syrup, man-made trans fats, etc. Prevention is much cheaper than cures."

Another question from reader Chris Vurnis on Redwood City-Woodside Patch's Facebook page: "Ask about their plans to limit or tax the transactions of high frequency trading computer algorithms used by the biggest banks and trading firms."

Ask Obama about this; "In 2008, persons named "Doodad Pro", "Test Person" and "Good Will," for example, made donations to the Obama campaign. "Doodad Pro" made an amazing 791 separate donations to the campaign, totaling almost $20k -- far above the donation limits." For Bob, please visit your local library. Read, it is important for you to not get caught up in the hate, illusion of talk show radio hosts. Please for the sake of your health. Question for Romney: Why did you give away free cigarettes to children in Russia in the 1990's. Isn't that in conflict with your value system? Today's Huffington Post has a detailed article using previously secret tobacco industry documents housed at the UCSF Legacy Tobacco Documents Library to show how, under Mitt Romney, Bain played a key role in helping British American Tobacco and Philip Morris invade Russia. This effort succeeded, leading to large increases in smoking (and smoking-induced disease). Read the story at http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/09/mitt-romney-bain-tobacco_n_1949812.html . The story includes copies of several key documents and live links to many more.

Why are the gas companies bleeding us dry, particularly around the holidays or when a so called gas line breaks? When can we use the US Oil reserves? I am looking for a date not the usual run around.

President Obama, when can we expect to see more funding going back to our local community colleges, state and UC systems? I have 13 year old triplets and soon they will be off to college. With all the budget cuts I'm worried about their future especially since my 2 girls have expressed interest in becoming doctors.

President Obama: Do you care to comment on an article from the Orlando Sentinel which states that Darden Restaurants (which owns the Red Lobster, Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, and Yard House chains) has stopped offering full-time schedules to hourly workers? According to the article, the company now plans to offer a maximum of 28 hours per week per employee. The article further states that Orlando-based Darden Restaurants group said the changes were "just one of the many things we are evaluating to help us address the cost implications healthcare reform will have on our business." Additionally, the article points out that under a section of President Barack Obama's Affordable Healthcare Act (aka Obamacare) due to go into effect in 2014, large employers face fines of up to $3,000 per employee if they fail to provide insurance for employees who work an average of 30 or more hours per week. And finally, according to the article, Darden said it offers health insurance to its 185,000 employees nationwide but many are on a limited-benefit plan which will be phased out under Obamacare.

I live in New Orleans louisiana; 7 years ago we were affected by hurricane Katrina. After years of putting our lives back together we are now affected with a new disaster who we call the insurance industry. Since Hurricane Katrina the Gulf Coast area has been affected with outrageously high premiums and deductibles that we are forced to purchase. In most cases premiums have risen to a 60 to 75%. With the premium increase there is now a separte Windstorm deductible that has been attached to the policies that are in many cases well over $10,000.00. Seven (7) years later we have been affected by Hurricane Isaac. Because of the high deductibles there are alot of residents that are left not able to fix their storm damaged homes because of the high deductibles. Why is the government allowing the insurance industry to clearly take advantage of its citizens by allowing them to set deductibles that will exclude most homes from being fixed? Why doesn't the government agencies set guidelines for insurance deductibles as they have for the credit card industry?
