New Year Means New Budget Cuts
In addition to the large K-12 transportation funding cuts, other education institutions felt the blow.
For California schools, Medi-Cal, county prosecutors and many others, ringing in the New Year also came along with hefty budget cuts.
But even after $900 million in cuts, the largest chunk coming from , the state isn't quite done yet.

In a month, the state will cut an additional $79.6 million from general K-12 funding for a total blow of nearly $328 million to K-12 education. That equates to $13.25 less for each of the 9,273 students in the .
“[The $13.25] is a small amount,” Parungao said, who anticipated a worst case scenario of $250 cut per student. “But all these cuts keep adding up.”
