Morantes Hopes to Dance His Way into Supervisor Role

Menlo Park candidate billing fundraiser "most fun political event of 2012."

It's accepted in today's politics that those seeking public office will say or do just about anything to get themselves elected.

One San Mateo County supervisorial candidate, however, is taking it to another level.

Guillermo P. "Memo" Morantes hopes to fill his campaign coffers in Foster City on Saturday with a fundraising event that's being billed more like a nightclub act than your typical wonky political gathering.

The third-term San Mateo County Office of Education trustee from Menlo Park wants $65 of your hard-earned money (or $100 per couple) to attend the event, which will be held at Marina Point Complex Clubhouse from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m.

And while there'll be plenty of to see Morantes and his five political adversaries dance around tough questions ahead of the June 5 vote, this could be your best chance to actually see him dance.

Morantes is heralding "Dancing with a Star!" as the "most fun political event of 2012" in campaign flyers. The event will feature the performances of a live band (San Mateo County's Aztinca) and "Missy the Belly Center."
