I really don't think its for funding. I think its more for pressing the flesh, shaking hands, a chance for reving up his voter base. Convincing the local business owners he's on there side...

What is this writer (chan ) on? Most comments on Obama's visit were negative and critical of Obama as a failure. Yet this writer Chan makes this article sound as if the opposite is true??? Very poor and bias reporting. As for Obama's visit...the absence of any democrats running for re-election or election should speak volumes as to Obama's popularity with the majority of american voters. His columbus Ohio kick off was a disaster where the auditorium was only 30% filled as compared to 2008 when it was filled. They had people move from their seats to the center so when Obama photographers took pictures the seats in the background of Obama gave the illusion of a packed arena. Wonder why this writer (chan) did not mention this???

Because all news media outlets are pro democrat, don't we know this by now? (except News Corp which owns Fox News and WSJ). Truth in journalism, reporting is far from unbiased these days. Did you see the real picture of the kid who was shot in Florida? http://sadhillnews.com/2012/03/25/the-trayvon-martin-our-government-subsidized-media-wont-let-you-see As for Obama coming to RWC, I hope the protesters I see up at the Woodside Rd intersection where Roberts market is show up, with their posters of Obama with a ..well I don't want to give it away, let's just see if they show up. And as somebody else put it, with RWC raising our sewage fees AGAIN, I need to save my money to pay our ridiculous water and trash bill coming up, not to waste it on getting a glimpse of a President who has really hurt our country. Creeping socialism people, creeping socialism for a good laugh watch this... http://youtu.be/3h8O7V-WxWQ

I really can't see how you can identify left-wing bias in this story. She expresses no opinion of her own but selected three negative responses, two neutral responses and one smartaleck response.
Jennifer D'Amico Bugarini May 07, 2012 at 03:55 PM
Jennifer T. first off that "picture" of Trayvon you linked to is a fake. It's been debunked numerous times. Secondly are you trying to state that because a black teen has a tattoo or sags his pants that it was ok for him to be shot or that we should just assume that he's a criminal? It's been proven that Trayvon was unarmed and minding his own business when he was chased and attacked. What exactly is your defense of Mr. Zimmerman? And actually you should be complaining to Recology about your garbage bill not RWC, but why blame businesses when you can complain about the government.

Redwood City is really on the map. FIrst Romney (The Sofitel? Really?) - now Obama (Yippee!). Redwood City would do well to take advantage of the FREE publicity. Obama is going to boost OUR local economy for sure! Redwood City - are you LISTEINING? Get Obama to somehow work in that we are MID-POINT to SF & SJ and all the hi-tech, med-tech etc. that is going on here in our little metropolis. We haven't had it this good since the Scott Peterson trial. But THIS is a much better reason! A positive publicity boost we can and should use now, and going forward. It's better to think of of RWC as the place Obama chose to visit.

LOVE that Obama is choosing Redwood City. Hope we can show him a great welcome and generate some great publicity for our MID-PENINSULA city. Wish we could afford tix to the Fox...

I am thrilled and excited that our President is coming to RWC! And...who cares if it is for fund raising...what was Romney here for...duh. It is the time to campaign and I feel proud he is coming here.

Obama and Scott Peterson what a pair. Climate Best By Government Test. Love ya Redwood City.

Maybe Obama will address the scam of illegals filing for phony tax credits of $1000 per kid---often "nieces/nephews" not even living here! Many get checks in the $20,000 range---perhaps this explains the free lunchers with professional manicures, iPhones and season passes to Great America. Defeat the parcel tax-Americans-it is not about money!!!

Not much of a surprise on the Romney Visit. As a matter of fact, Occupy Redwood City General Assembly endorsed organizing a protest back in February to call attention to the desperate need for campaign finance reform after "Glenbrook LLC" ( with an address at 3 Lagoon Drive, Suite 400, Redwood City, Calif) made a $250,000 contribution to the pro-Romney super-PAC, Restore Our Future, in August. The Redwood City office suite is occupied by Seiler L.L.P., a certified public accounting firm, which has declined to comment. This 40 million dollar multi-office building seems to be owned by Metropolitan Life Ins. Company ... but is held by "Unameit" trust, which is overseen by Seiler LLC .... located wading distance from the Sofitel. Mail sent to Glenbrook LLC at that address is returned to sender. Tax on that property was 430k last year, so a 250k political contribution isn't very surprising, What surprises me is that Romney's Fund-raiser sold plates starting at $1,000, while people payed up to 25k for a chance to dine with Mitt... And I am curious how obama is going to boost our local economy... His tickets are more affordable than taking your family to a sporting event. At least the peterson trial had lasting draw, but having a bunch of tea party activists smoked out by NORML for an afternoon while Occupy activists who can't really afford the gas to get here but come anyway only promises to stop traffic and kill downtown business for a day.

Mitt Wrongly is an obscenely rich flip flopper whose clueless right-wing rhetoric will ruin the Republicans chances in November. Wrongly is representative of 99% of the 1% smug, condescending, patronizing & out of touch with the vast majority of Americans in 2012. Give President Obama four more years & don't encourage these tea party extremists. Wrongly doesn't have the backbone to stand up to the religious right & the neo-cons in his own party, while at the same time he's a blustery sword rattler. Maybe he should be running for President of the Cayman Islands because thats where he keeps his fortune banked. When Wrongly loses & lose he will the question will be how did this woeful candidate get nominated in the first place. If Wrongly is the best the Republicans have to offer they're as doomed as doomed can be !
Gene Firpo May 08, 2012 at 04:43 PM
So be it... Rash Razen, we are all doomed! Forward.
Ralph Garcia May 08, 2012 at 05:05 PM
Hopefully me and my dog Mollie will be able to get to Chase Bank to make a deposit (Mollie is always ready to make a deposit along the way)
Barb Valley May 08, 2012 at 07:10 PM
Considering the best the GOP had to offer last time was McCain and Palin, seems they're running true to form.
Gene Firpo May 08, 2012 at 11:17 PM
Promise Yourself...Ralph. See you on Tuesday,May 15 at 8:30 am. Hot Dogs for the children and a big deposit. God love Mollie.

Trying to figure out how my local business (Chain Reaction Bicycles) can benefit from the "free publicity"... but it should be fun to have a major event (whether you're for or against the guy, it's pretty big for RC and will put the Fox Theater back on the map) in our sleepy little town. :-)

Not sure how Jennifer D'amico decided all those things about me, she assumes to much. The point is the media has major control on voters. this is another great example, it's about people who just voted for Obama in 08 and they don't even know what and who they are voting for, really shows how media can help sway voters, http://youtu.be/e_JJLLfTR8 I honestly I didn't know who Barney Frank was ooops, but funny how everybody knows who has a pregnant teenage daughter(at the time of last election.)
GregP May 12, 2012 at 09:54 PM
How intelligent! Does that mean we should vote for Romney? Regressive vs Progressive. 'Nuff said.
GregP May 12, 2012 at 09:56 PM
Is that all you got? Yawn.
Jennifer D'Amico Bugarini May 14, 2012 at 04:10 PM
Jennifer Tegnerud, apparently you didn't really read the comment I posted. I said absolutely nothing about you at all. I simply stated that the picture you posted a link to was false and in all reality it has not one thing to do with what the article is about. Oh and I also stated that the cost of your garbage bill has nothing to do with Obama either (although I guess it would be more convenient to blame him for everything) the blame belongs to Recology, you know the company that picks up the trash. I said not one word about Barney Frank. And I'm way too young to have a pregnant teenage daughter, especially at the time of the last election. Weird how the conversation/discussion went there.
