Have an Opinion on Land Use? Redwood City Needs You!

Applications are now being accepted for three open seats on the Redwood City Planning Commission.

The City of Redwood City is seeking volunteers to fill three seats on the Planning Commission. Commissioners will help determine significant land use decisions in Redwood City. 

According to a media release by the city, applications are now being accepted for the three seats on the seven-seat commission; recruitment began Monday, December 16th and ends Wednesday, January 8, 2014. Each term is four years

Generally, the Planning Commission meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month, but may hold additional meetings as warranted. The Planning Commission reviews and offers recommendations to City Council on topics such as the General Plan, neighborhood and specific area plans, environmental impact reports, and planned development permit applications for developments of one acre or more.

The application can be found online. The application process may include a supplemental questionnaire. The process also includes an interview with City Council.

"City Council counts on the Commission's adherence to established planning ordinances, compliance with legal requirements, provision of objective analysis and review of project applications, and approvals or recommendations on land use decisions," states Mayor Gee.

Members of the seven member Planning Commission serve without compensation and cannot hold any other public office or position in the City while serving as members of the Commission. Commissioners must be registered voters and residents of incorporated Redwood City.
