City Offers Kudos to Coastal Cleanup Volunteers

On Saturday, 160 Redwood City volunteers picked up .28 tons of trash and recyclables.

Coastal Cleanup 2013 day yielded more than just cigarette butts and Starbucks cups around Redwood City. Intrepid volunteers braved the rain on Saturday retrieving everything from bicycles and scrap metal to plastic bags and a wallet (turned into police).

According to city officials, approximately 160 volunteers picked up .28 tons (560 lbs.) of waste at the main volunteer locations. And volunteers at the Sequoia Yacht Club picked up another 250 lbs. of waste, making this Fall Cleanup's total....810 pounds of waste removed from Redwood City!

“We wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of you who came out and volunteered (in the rain!) to clean up our City during the Fall Cleanup Day on Saturday, September 21. We saw a lot of smiles and clean areas thanks to our volunteers!,” said Redwood City officials in this week’s ENews.
