Three burglary suspects - believed to be responsible for residential burglaries in Redwood City, Palo Alto and Belmont - are behind bars today, thanks to the watchful eyes of one Redwood City resident.
This past Friday, Oct. 12 at 10:50 a.m., the Redwood City Police Department (RCPD) received a call from a resident in the 400 block of Pine Street, stating he or she had just seen three subjects he or she did not recognize enter the backyard of a neighboring residence and then enter the home through a window.
Officers responded to the area and surrounded the residence.
Three suspects were arrested inside of the residence for residential burglary. The three suspects have been identified as Raphaelle Jones, a 23-year-old Citrus Heights resident; Gabriel Carter, a 35-year-old Oakland resident; and Wyatt King III, a 34-year-old Sacramento resident.
During a subsequent search of the suspects’ vehicle, officers also discovered property from a residential burglary that had occurred earlier that day in Belmont.
Additional follow-up investigation by RCPD detectives lead to the discovery that the suspects were also responsible for a residential burglary in Palo Alto on Oct. 9.
In a statement about the arrests, Redwood City Police Chief JR Gamez stated, “The arrest of the three suspects involved in this burglary was a direct result of residents keeping a watchful eye out for each other in their neighborhood. The keen observation made by neighbors and the timely call to police enabled our officers and detectives to quickly respond and take suspects responsible for a string of burglaries into custody without incident.”
The suspects were booked into the San Mateo County Jail for the three residential burglaries in Redwood City, Belmont and Palo Alto.
