The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office indicated Thursday it is expecting a rather large turn-out for this Saturday's gun buy-back event at the San Mateo County Event Center.
They also advised, in a statement sent out Thursday, that the buy-back will be a "drive-through" event.
"All firearms must be unloaded and stored in the trunk of the vehicle, with all magazines and ammunition stored separately, outside the trunk," the statement read.
"Citizens who attempt to walk up to the turn-in site will be directed to place their firearm(s) in their vehicle and drive onto the site."
The Sheriff's Office has indicated that this weekend's buy-back will be completely anonymous, with "no questions asked," and that, once a firearm turned in has been found not to have previously been reported lost or stolen, it will be destroyed by the Sheriff's Office.
The event will take place this Saturday, Jan. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Event Center, located at 1346 Saratoga Dr. at the corner of Delaware Avenue in San Mateo.
