Thousands Without Power in Redwood City, San Carlos

Outages caused by high winds Sunday evening, according to PG&E officials.

More than 3,000 lost power in the San Carlos and Redwood City areas in two separate outages, and more than 700 are currently reported to be without power in Cupertino, according to PG&E.

Around 17,700 people in PG&E's service area are without power Sunday evening due to high winds, including thousands in the Bay Area, a spokeswoman said this evening.

In San Francisco, around 5,600 customers in the Russian Hill, Nob Hill and Ghirardelli Square areas lost power around 9:25 p.m. this evening due to a downed power line, PG&E spokeswoman Jana Morris said.

There is no estimated time for power to be restored in that outage.

In the East Bay, an outage that affected more than 3,000 customers in Antioch has been reduced to around 745 customers, Morris said.

PG&E is also reporting more than 1500 still without power in the Danville and Alamo area, where around 2300 customers lost power around 8:15 p.m., and nearly 700 in Pleasanton.

An outage in Vallejo earlier this evening that affected around 5500 customers has been fully restored.

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission also responded to a power outage on Treasure Island caused by wind-blown debris, and has fully restored power to the island.
