Suspects Plead Not Guilty To Burglaries in Redwood City

Written by Bay City News

Three suspects in a series of residential burglaries in Redwood City, Palo Alto and other cities in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties have pleaded not guilty to burglary and other charges.

The suspects, East Palo Alto resident Poasi Toliseli, 20; Menlo Park resident Jamie Maldonado, 21; and 20-year-old Marycruz Miranda, of Sunnyvale, were arrested at about 2:45 p.m. on June 13 after they were pulled over in Mountain View, Redwood City police said.

Mountain View police saw suspicious property inside the suspects' green 1997 Honda Accord and determined that the car was associated with a burglary that had occurred in Sunnyvale. Further investigation also implicated the trio in a series of burglaries in other cities, according to Redwood City police.

Law enforcement personnel from various agencies collaborated in the investigation and multiple victims were identified. Investigators searched the suspects' homes and found more stolen property, and are working to return it to the owners, police said.

All three suspects have been booked into San Mateo County Jail. The trio was arraigned Monday and all entered pleas of not guilty to burglary, grand theft and attempted burglary charges, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 27.

Toleseli, who has a prior robbery conviction, is being held on $150,000 bail. Maldonado is being held on $100,000 bail, and Miranda's bail is $50,000.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Redwood City police Detective Jessica Gray at (650) 780-7129.
