Updated: San Bruno Man Killed in Redwood City Freeway Crash

A 38-year-old San Bruno man was killed after he exited his crashed vehicle, walked onto a northbound lane of U.S. Highway 101 in Redwood City and was hit by an oncoming car early this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Tony Edward Reyes was identified as the motorist who died just before 12:30 a.m. on the freeway near Marsh Road and near the city of Menlo Park.

Reyes was headed north on the highway when his Chevrolet Trailblazer skipped off of the fourth and fifth lanes and hit the right-side sound wall.

Reyes then got out of his disabled car and stood in a lane where he was struck by a Jeep Liberty, driven by Romeo Tutop, 31, of San Jose.

The crash remains under investigation, CHP Officer Art Montiel said.

A Sig-alert issued on a stretch of the freeway north of Marsh Road at 12:47 a.m. was canceled shortly after 3:30 a.m., according to the CHP.

Tony Edward Reyes was identified as the motorist who died at about 12:40 a.m. on the freeway near Marsh Road and Menlo Park.

A Sig-alert issued on a stretch of the freeway north of Marsh Road at 12:47 a.m. was canceled shortly after 3:30 a.m., according to the CHP.
