Her five-year-old granddaughter was transported to the hospital.

Police arrested a Redwood City woman on suspicion of driving under the influence and child endangerment in Belmont on Thursday, police said.

Police and firefighters responded to a car crash on El Camino Road at Harbor Boulevard at around 4:10 p.m.

Responders discovered that a 2002 Mazda Protege appeared to have rear-ended a 2009 BMW sedan.

Alla Hajiyena, 55, was driving the Mazda and her 5-year-old granddaughter was a passenger in the car, police said.

Hajiyena was not injured but her granddaughter was treated by paramedics at the scene and transported to a hospital for non life-threatening injuries, police said.

The driver of the BMW, a 60-year-old Belmont woman, was also transported to the hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

Hajiyena was arrested on suspicion of DUI, resulting in injury and child endangerment, police said.

She was booked into the San Mateo County Jail in Redwood City.
