More than two million pounds of pills were collected nationwide at last year's drug take-back day.
The Redwood City Police Department will participate in a nationwide effort to remove potentially dangerous substances from residents' medicine cabinets this Saturday.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., anyone in San Mateo County will be able to drop off their unused prescription drugs at the Redwood City Police Department station located at 1301 Maple Street--no questions asked.
This National Take-Back Day, put on in collaboration with the DEA and Stanford Hospital, is intended to highlight the increasing abuse of pharmaceutical controlled substances. At last year's event, more than two million pounds of pills were collected nationwide.
