Propane Explosion in Redwood City Closes El Camino Real

Redwood City police have closed El Camino Real in both directions.

El Camino Real is closed in both directions in Redwood City this morning due to a propane tank explosion at a U-Haul facility.

No one was injured in the explosion, which was reported to the Redwood City Fire Department at 8:20 a.m. at the moving and storage facility at 2200 El Camino Real.

Fire crews remained at the scene late this morning and had water on the propane feeder tank to cool it while the rest of the propane runs out, a firefighter said.

Redwood City police have closed El Camino Real in both directions. Southbound traffic is blocked from Oak Avenue to Charter Street, while northbound traffic is blocked from Willow Street to Oak Avenue.
