Police: Man Found With Head Wound at Redwood City Park, Dies

By Bay City News Service:

Police in Redwood City are investigating the death of a man whose body was found at a park Monday morning.

Officers and fire personnel responded to a report of a man lying on the ground with a head injury at Red Morton Park, located at 1120 Roosevelt Ave., at about 8:30 a.m., Lt. Sean Hart said.

When authorities arrived, they found the man suffering from a head injury.

He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, Hart said.

An autopsy is scheduled to determine the death of the man, but Hart said the death remains under investigation.

The name of the victim has not yet been released. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police Detective Dave Cirina at (650) 780-7607.

I heard it was a homeless man that was in the park often and slept there at night. I also heard that another homeless man was attacked in Red Morton a few days earlier but was able to fend off the attackers. It is a sad commentary on our community if this is true.

That's true Palomar. The poor fellow was a kind gentle soul - he used to be a teacher - he was beaten by young thugs, the same ones I imagine who beat his friend a few days earlier. I only hope the police follow up thoroughly to find he horrible people who did this.

Homelessness is an unfortunate and heart wrenching part of our society. Almost all homeless are harmless lost souls. It is a sick person (or people) that would do such a thing. I also hope they will find those people and lock them up for a long time.
