Redwood City Woman Involved in El Camino Real Crash, Blocking Roadway

Traffic backed up Friday in both directions along El Camino Real in Belmont, after a t-bone crash blocked the thoroughfare.

Two women were injured in a Valentine's Day crash that led to a temporary road closure in Belmont, police report.

The crash happened around 1:45 p.m. Friday, in the 500 block of El Camino Real, north of Ralston Avenue, according to Belmont Police Captain Patrick Halleran.

"Upon arrival, Officers found that two vehicles had collided and one northbound lane and one southbound lane of El Camino were blocked," Halleran said.

A 59-year-old Sacramento woman driving a BMW sedan was pulling out of the Dollar Tree driveway, when she was hit by a 24-year-old Redwood City woman in a Nissan sedan, according to the captain.  The Nissan was traveling south on El Camino Real.

"Both drivers were treated at the scene by Belmont Fire Department paramedics for non life-threatening injuries and the driver of the BMW was transported to an area hospital," Halleran said.

The roadway was reduced to one lane in each direction for about an hour while police cleared the scene and investigated, the captain said.
