A mountain lion was seen Tuesday night in Portola Valley, San Mateo County emergency officials reported.
The big cat was spotted at about 7:45 p.m. near Los Trancos Road and Buck Meadow Drive, close to Los Trancos Woods, according to emergency officials.
Emergency officials warn residents who might come in contact with the wild cats to not run from them. Instead, wildlife officials advise people to look big and make noise, and also throw rocks or other objects at the animal to scare it away.
