UPDATED: Trains Stalled After Person Dies on Caltrain Tracks

A person has died after being hit by a train, according to agency officials.

Update 10:35 p.m.: 
 
Buses were carrying passengers between the Menlo Park and Redwood City Caltrain stations Thursday night, after a person was struck and killed on the tracks in Atherton, according to a Caltrain spokeswoman.

Southbound Caltrain 192, which left San Francisco at 8:40 p.m. and left Redwood City at 9:28 p.m., struck the person on the train tracks at Watkins Avenue around 9:45 p.m., according to Caltrain spokeswoman Christine Dunn.

The train does not stop in Atherton on weekdays.

No trains could pass through the area of the incident as of late Thursday, and northbound train 197 was stopped in Menlo Park, Dunn said.

Caltrain is currently operating on an hourly schedule, with the last train of the day leaving San Francisco at 12:01 a.m.

Caltrain officials report a southbound train has struck and killed a person in Atherton Thursday evening.
