and SamTrans will conduct an emergency preparedness drill 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. on the train
tracks behind Costco in Redwood City on Saturday, Nov. 2.
The exercise will be held on a rail spur that is not used for regular train service.
This annual drill supports Caltrain’s emergency preparedness efforts by providing an opportunity to train with local public safety agencies on how to respond to a rail emergency.
During the drill, nearby residents and businesses will see a locomotive with passenger cars, as well as police and fire personnel and vehicles with lights and occasional sirens. A SamTrans bus also will be used in the drill.
There will be no disruption to traffic or train service during the drill. Neighbors and residents are being notified in advance. On-lookers will not be allowed into the area where the drill is being conducted. This annual drill is another component of Caltrain’s ongoing commitment to safety and security.
Along with bolstering its emergency response protocols, Caltrain has partnered with the California branch of Operation Lifesaver for the last 20 years to carry safety messages to the communities neighboring the 150-year-old rail corridor in the Peninsula.
