Blotter: Caller Posing as Detective Tries to Case Restaurant, ATM

The following information was supplied by the Redwood City Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, Nov. 14

2:08 a.m. - DUI Arrest: Officers stopped a vehicle with two occupants at the corner of El Camino Real and Willow Street for suspected DUI. Arrest made.

3:05 a.m. - Occupied Suspicious Vehicle: Occurred on Lincoln Avenue. Caller reported a white Acura with two subjects in the backseat, one possibly nude.

7:27 a.m. - Accident/Disturbance: Occurred on Marshall and Maple streets. Reporting caller said he has been in an ongoing dispute with his neighbor. The neighbor says he is constantly blocking his driveway. The argument escalated this morning and his neighbor followed him in his car, and a 'road rage' incident occurred on Marshall, when his neighbor purposely rear-ended him. The caller was afraid to stop and get out of his vehicle, so he proceeded directly to the police department. Report taken.

9:45 a.m. - Suspicious Persons/Drug Activity: Occurred on El Camino Real. Caller said he/she witnessed two men - one black and one white - selling drugs to minors. White male is wearing a white shirt. Call disconnected. Officers unable to locate suspects.

11:19 a.m. - Accident w/ Property Damage: Occurred on Oak Avenue. A truck backed up and accidentally hit power lines which are now hanging. Fire department is enroute in case the wires are sparking.

12:04 p.m. - Disturbance/Transit Assist: Occurred at James Avenue Caltrain station. A black male around 16-20 years old was ejected from the train for causing problems with passengers. Now he is standing on the platform throwing things at the train. Officers to assist transit authorities.

2:34 p.m. - Shoplift/Grand Theft: Occurred on El Camino Real. Suspect caught on video taking large amount of clothing, jackets, etc. Report taken.

4:22 p.m. - Domestic Violence: Caller said her boyfriend punched her in the face, she has visible bruises. Report with suspect info taken.

6:12 p.m. - Prowler/Possible Attempted Burglary: Occurred on Arlington Road. Caller thinks someone is in her backyard. A few minutes before, an unknown person knocked on her front door. When she didn't answer, the person entered her backyard and now she can hear him banging on the rear wall of her house. 

6:27 p.m. - Suspicious Circumstances: Occurred on Walnut Street. Security personnel from a store reported a black male wearing a gray and white polo shirt purposely rubbed up against a female in the store and touched her inappropriately. Security is now watching him on the cameras. Report taken.

8:43 p.m. - Attempted Residential Burglary: Occurred on Madison Avenue. An attempted burglary just took place in the front duplex - front door just broken. Report taken.

10:43 p.m. - Residential Burglary: Occurred on Harrison Avenue. Resident, who has been home the whole night, just noticed the screen is torn and his window open. Chair on his deck has also been moved. Believes it occurred sometime in the last hour. Report taken.

11:10 p.m. - Juvenile Probation Violation: Occurred on Vera Avenue. Arrest made.

11:41 p.m. - Disturbance/Prowlers: Occurred on Beech Street. Caller says he/she thinks he/she can hear subjects on his/her roof but is scared to look. 

 

Thursday, Nov. 15

8:41 a.m. - Suspicious Person: Occurred on Willow Street. Caller reports a suspicious Hispanic male in his 30s knocking on front doors and trying to open the doors of cars parked on the street. Thinks he may be under the influence of drugs. He is wearing a red shirt and gray pants.

8:42 p.m. - Subject With a Gun: Occurred on Laurel Street. Two subjects in an argument, and one pulled a gun on the other and threatened him. Caller thinks it might just be an air-soft gun. Arrest made.

9:06 a.m. - Graffiti/Vandalism: Occurred on Shasta Street. A report for excessive graffiti was taken at this location yesterday - today caller said taggers came back in the middle of the night and did more graffiti. 

12:07 p.m. - Domestic Violence: Caller reports seeing a blonde female driving a green Honda, dragging a black male wearing a tank top out the passenger side. The car finally stopped, the male got in the car, and the argument continued inside the car.

2:58 p.m. - Shoplift: Occured in store on Walnut Street. Arrest made.

3:12 p.m. - Battery: Occurred on Roosevelt Avenue. Caller is standing by with a 16-year-old juvenile who said he was jumped by multiple subjects Monday, who would like to file a report. Report taken.

3:15 p.m. - Suspicious Circumstances: Occurred in restaurant on Main Street. An employee called to report that someone called the restaurant claiming he was a police detective, asking if there were security cameras outside the restaurant near the ATM. Employee said no, there were no cameras. But when employee asked for the detective's name, the caller said "That's not important" and hung up. 

3:57 p.m. - Shoplift: Occurred on Veterans Boulevard. Arrest made.

4:32 p.m. - Disturbance: Verbal argument between the owner of a vehicle and someone he thinks was trying to steal his car, a green Honda Civic.

4:55 p.m. - Battery: Occurred on Brewster Avenue. A 16-year-old is in the principal's office, reporting he was just jumped by five non-students outside the school. Report taken.

6:17 and 8:41 p.m. - Terrorist Threats: Occurred on Rolison Road. Caller reports his girlfriend's ex-husband has been making threats to him. Later at 8:41, the ex-husband drove up in front of his apartment complex and continued making threats. He is a Hispanic male in his 30s driving a green pick-up truck.

7:01 p.m. - Residential Burglary: Occurred on Arlington Road. Husband and wife just returned home and noticed through the front window that their TV is missing. Unknown point of entry. Report taken.

7:11 p.m. - Stolen Vehicles: Occurred at Main and Cedar streets. Two vehicles stolen. 

9:46 p.m. - Brandishing A Weapon: Occurred on 2nd Avenue. Report of a Hispanic male in his teens or early 20s in the front lobby waving a gun. Described as wearing black jeans, a long black t-shirt, and black tennis shoes with red trim.

11:24 p.m. - Domestic Violence: Woman called to report her ex-husband is abusing her. She said she came home and found him waiting for her, and he pushed her and stole her cellphone and then took off in a gray BMW sedan. Occurred about 10 minutes ago. Also, three nights ago, she said he entered her home, choked her and stole her cellphone. They have four children together - ages 15, 12, 7 and 3, but none of them witnessed either incident. Report taken.
