Blotter: A Grinch Steals Family's Christmas Presents

The following information was supplied by the Redwood City Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday

12:36 a.m. - DUI / Arrest - Police arrested someone for drunken driving near the intersection of Standish and Winslow Streets.

8:29 a.m. - Suspicious Package - Someone on Wilmington Way found a black bag wrapped in barbed wire on the person's property.

3:54 p.m. - Disturbance - An elderly man was refusing to leave a bank on Broadway after complaining that some items were missing from his safe-deposit box.

11:13 p.m. - Suspicious Circumstances - Someone reported seeing smoke and flashing lights, possibly from smoke bombs, near Valota Road and Hampton Avenue, according to police. The person told police that some juveniles were loitering in the area.

Wednesday

11:39 a.m. - Terrorist Threats - A woman called police from her friend's house (location unknown) to report that her ex-boyfriend recently threatened to beat her up.

12:07 p.m. - Disturbance - Police arrested two people who were drinking alcohol and loitering near Woodside Road.

2:22 p.m. - Domestic Violence - A woman reportedly slapped her boyfriend and then he hit her back.

5:39 p.m. - Shots Fired - Someone on Stanford Avenue reported hearing a single gun shot.

8:35 p.m. - Petty Theft - A loss prevention officer spotted a woman stealing beer from a store in Woodside Plaza. He followed her, took the beer back and kept following her while calling police. The woman was not arrested, however.

 

Thursday

2:35 a.m. - Prowler - A resident on Lyons Street spotted the shadow of a man walking through the person's yard after a motion light turned on.

5:09 p.m. - Residential Burglary - A family returned home from vacation to find that an unknown suspect broke into their home on Cleveland Street and stole all of their Christmas presents.

8:01 p.m. - Battery - A man showed up at his aunt's house on Poplar Avenue and assaulted her husband.

11:07 p.m. - Vandalism - Two juveniles were reportedly running through an apartment complex on Hastings Shores Lane and breaking overhead lights. Police could not find them.

 

Friday

1:54 a.m. - DUI / Arrest - Police arrested someone for drunken driving near the intersection of Broadway and Chestnut Street.

2:05 a.m. - Disturbance - A man called police to report that a cab driver tried to run him over after arriving at Marsh and Rolison Roads to pick him up.

3:33 p.m. - Disturbance - A man in a white car was reportedly causing a traffic jam on Middlefield Road because he was feeding a large number of birds.

5:53 p.m. - Suspicious Circumstances - Someone spotted a neighbor carrying a rifle in the back of an apartment complex on Hess Road.

11:27 p.m. - Suspicious Circumstances - A resident arrived home on Albion Way to find the attic light on and called police. No further information was available.
