Arrest Made in Redwood City Burglary

Suspect allegedly entered an apartment while the resident was sleeping.

An East Palo Alto man has been arrested in connection with a residential burglary that occurred in Redwood City on Saturday, Aug. 31, police said. 

Danny Dixon Jr., 33, was arrested on suspicion of burglarizing an apartment in the 600 block of Topaz Street in Redwood City. Investigators believe Dixon entered the apartment of a 58-year-old Redwood City resident through an unlocked front door at about 9:20 a.m., Redwood City police said.

The suspect took the victim's cell phone and was seen leaving the apartment by neighbors, police said. 

A neighbor knocked on the victim's door and discovered that he was asleep and had not been aware that someone had entered his home and taken his phone.

The victim reported the incident to police. Officers responded and got a description of the suspect then searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspect. 

About two hours later, an officer spotted Dixon walking near the corner of James Avenue and Grand Street and noticed that he matched the suspect description. 

Dixon was detained and identified by witnesses as the man they saw exiting the apartment, police said. 

The victim's cell phone was recovered and Dixon was booked into San Mateo County Jail for residential burglary.
