2 Teens Arrested for 'Prowling' Near A Burglarized Home

Two teens were arrested Wednesday in unincorporated Menlo Park, after someone called the Sheriff.

The person told law enforcement officials he saw two Hispanic males “prowling around his neighbor’s house,” according to Rebecca Rosenblatt, San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson.

Deputies were dispatched to the 600 block of 16th Avenue at about 12:40 p.m., where they found a home with signs of forced entry. They broadcast descriptions of the duo to all police in the area. Redwood City Police officers found two minors who fit the description and stopped them. Law enforcement officials did an “in-field-line-up” to identify the two as the people who were seen near the burgled home.

The neighbor told police that they have surveillance video of the incident.

Rosenblatt said the two are being scrutinized for participating in other residential burglaries nearby. They were booked into Juvenile Hall.
