The Great Escape: Wine Therapy

This week, try out different wines at a local joint.

If you've had enough whining (from family or friends), treat yourself to some real wine. There are several local wine bars, retailers and restaurants that offer delicious wines.

(782 Laurel St, San Carlos) offers several different flights of wine, including Delicious Whites, Luscious Reds and a Pinot Noir flight. Several small plates are available to compliment the wine.

Also in San Carlos, (971 Laurel St, San Carlos) serves a wide selection of domestic and international wines, with local cheeses and hot plates available for pairings.

(3005 El Camino Real, Redwood City) offers wine tastings every Friday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. Each week the tasting follows a theme, making it a great way to try out new wines. This Friday the focus will be 2009 Cru Beaujolais.

If you are looking to enjoy a full dinner with top-notch wines, try (1120 Crane St, Menlo Park) or (1910 Ralston Ave, Belmont). Both offer tasty Italian cuisine in a romantic setting and are known to have exceptional wine lists.
