Facebook Creates 'Couples' Pages

People who declare they’re in a relationship with someone on Facebook now automatically get a shared page.

From Menlo Park Patch

Facebook Inc. deployed shared pages for couples this week, an act that will likely alienate a multitude of users who cannot opt out of the page.

Anyone who declared they are in a relationship of any type on Facebook now has a “couples” page.  A click on the words “in a relationship” redirects you to an array of personal facts about the two people.

Some pages are sparsely populated.  Others are thriving with things the couples both like, events they’ve attended, and items they’ve shared on each other’s walls.

Friends I've discussed these new pages with have described the new page as "unnerving" and "deplorable."

"Good God, that Facebook page is the creepiest thing I have ever seen
in my life," said one of my friends who will remain anonymous.  "My marriage doesn't have its own toothbrush in the bathroom, so why should it have its own Facebook page?" she said.

Good question.

Good question, cipiazza. This is probably related to a sewage pipeline replacement project takingRead More place nearby.

Vanessa and ctpiazza, Buckley Stone at Pete's Harbor says it is because some time ago the CityRead More dredged near muni and ran a pipe under to spill it out at Bair Island, so it is actually the remains of rotting sea life. He knows so much about this area having been at Pete's for 20 years and knowing so much about the area the tides and the nature and land around here.
