Craig and Lou at the ballot box: Proposition 39

Should we change how businesses are taxed?

This proposition changes the requirement on how multistate businesses to calculate their California income tax liability based on the percentage of their sales in California. It will raise money and cost money, so it's a coin toss whether it makes sense.

The cost to administer will be nowhere near what will be taken in. Multistate taxes are old new and exist throughout the country. There is much software already in place with which to accomplish this. Time for California to claim its fair share.

For some reason, this video is coming up as "private" when I click on it. Of all the propositions, this is the one I was actually looking forward to hearing your take on. One the one hand, some people say that there's a loophole that rewards companies for NOT having employees in CA. On the other hand, some people say this is going to drive jobs OUT of CA.

Jim, I fixed the viewing option. Both 39 and 40 are now public.

Vanessa and ctpiazza, Buckley Stone at Pete's Harbor says it is because some time ago the CityRead More dredged near muni and ran a pipe under to spill it out at Bair Island, so it is actually the remains of rotting sea life. He knows so much about this area having been at Pete's for 20 years and knowing so much about the area the tides and the nature and land around here.
