Defiance by C. J. Redwine

Defiance by C. J. Redwine is the first in a series about, of course, the post-apocalyptic world.  Rachael is a girl that lives with her father, until he disappears/dies in a mysterious accident.  Logan, who is two years older than Rachael, is now her protector, as he was assigned to do so by the Commander of where they live.

This book was written like it was the first chapter of a long book, or even the prologue of a long book.  However, since it was the first book in a series, I am only able to assume that this will be a thirty book series, or something close to that.  This was too short of a book to have any character development, and the book was overall not written well at all.  I was not able to see the scenery in my mind’s eye, and this book was overall badly thought out.  Yes, there was a plot, and the plot climax and all that jazz, but it didn’t make me want to read it, and I couldn’t get into the characters as much as I would have liked to.  If she had made this book a few hundred pages longer, than it would be a much different story.  Otherwise, this book was terrible, but still a better book than Twilight.
