'Coats for Kids' Kicks Off Monday

Donating a coat to a child in need is as easy as leaving it at your curb. Recology drivers will pick up coats on Redwood City trash collection days Nov. 4-8.

Recology San Mateo County is launching its annual Coats for Kids Program to collect new and gently used coats to donate to those in need of a warm coat during the cold weather season. From Monday, November 4th through Friday, November 8th, drivers from Recology will collect coats curbside from residential homes on their collection day in Redwood City.

Residents are asked to place coats in a clear plastic bag marked "Coats for Kids" and to then place the bag next to or on the top of their blue Recycle Cart on their regular collection day, during the week of November 4th to 8th.

Collection containers labeled "Coats for Kids" will also be placed at various locations throughout participating cities and at Recology’s office where residents can drop off coats.

The drop off locations can be used by anyone interested in making a donation. Please note that the Coats for Kids "drop off" locations will be accepting coats from Monday Nov. 4 through Friday Nov. 15. Just look for the Recology wheeled collection carts that are labeled "Coats for Kids".

The Coats for Kids Program is held annually by Recology and has hopes of having more communities participate each year.
