Alexander
Eisenberg will perform Tchaikovsky’s
Violin Concerto, one of the most beloved works
in the violin repertoire, in Redwood Symphony's Mid-Summer Magic at 8 p.m.
Saturday, July 26, in the Main Theater at Cañada College, 4200 Farm Hill Blvd.,
Redwood City.
This concert features an eclectic program of popular symphonic favorites which
also includes music from Gershwin's "Porgy and Bess" and the John
Williams movie score "Catch Me If You Can." This high-octane concert
will conclude with Ravel's Bolero, the hypnotic powerhouse that has remained at
the top of the classical charts since it was premiered at the height of the
Jazz Age.
Maestro Eric Kujawsky will give a pre-concert talk at 7 p.m.
Tickets, from $10-$30, are available at RedwoodSymphony.org. Children under 18
are admitted free, and parking is free as well.
Redwood Symphony is an all-volunteer orchestra dedicated to the performance of
ambitious, contemporary repertoire as well as the great orchestral classics.
Its August 2012 performance of the Berlioz Requiem at Davies Symphony Hall in
San Francisco was critically acclaimed.
