Model Ships Exhibit Update and Maritime Day

The gallery is getting a $58,000 upgrade that

will include new interactive activities, video presentations, graphics and

murals.  This project is made possible by

a grant from the Christensen Family Foundation. The

gallery will still feature the model ships fashioned

by expert model maker Charles Parsons (1917-2004), who lived in San

Carlos.  The ships are an eclectic

collection representing Parsons’ intense interest in maritime history, from a

Greek warship of 500 BC to the World War II destroyer, The Sullivans.  Festivities will include special children’s crafts, nautical

entertainments and a ribbon cutting at 11:00 a.m.
