Water Documentary Strikes Chord with Redwood City

What started out as a small screening of the water documentary "Flow" turned out to be a highly attended event at the Redwood City downtown library.

Perhaps Redwood City’s recently has the community thinking more about water. Or maybe it’s the heightened awareness about preserving natural resources.

Whatever the reason, the ’s community room was packed with interested Peninsula residents, eager to watch the award-winning documentary “Flow.” The Loma Prieta Chapter of the Sierra Club sponsored the event, with Carlmont High's Green Youth Alliance club helping out.

"One of the reasons we selected Redwood City was that the has water as one of its central themes," said co-organizer Gita Dev. "Water should be a community resource, not a corporate asset."

Directed by Irena Salina, the 2008 documentary has sparked conversation about the world’s most crucial resource.
