Sign Up for Car Seat Safety Inspection Today

Families asked to make an appointment for event at Kohl's in Redwood City.

Kohl's Department Stores, in partnership with Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford, will host a free car seat safety event open to the public at its Redwood City location Monday, according to a news release.

Families are asked to make an appointment online carseatfitting.lpch.org or by calling (650) 736-2981. 

This event is part of Kohl's Child Safety and Outreach Program at Packard Children's Hospital, an ongoing partnership to reduce harm to Bay Area children. Officers from the California Highway Patrol and bilingual certified technicians from Packard Children's will inspect car seats and provide parents with information and best practices. Appointments for a car seat fitting with a certified technician at this event can be made online at carseatfitting.lpch.org or by calling (650) 736-2981.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, motor vehicle crashes remain the leading cause of injury-related death among children in the United States. Child safety seats and safety belts, when installed and used correctly, can prevent injuries and save lives. Yet experts estimate that as many as four out of five car seats are still installed incorrectly, according to thew news release.
