After 6 Decades, Marine's Remains Arrive Back in Bay Area

The remains of a Marine from Redwood City who went missing during World War II were flown back to SFO on Thursday so that he could get could a proper military funeral.

James Austin Sisney, who joined the military when he was 17, was among a group of Marines who died on April 22, 1944, after their plane crashed on a remote island in the South Pacific.

No one knew for sure where exactly where he was until a relative tracked down the crash site in 2007. Now Sisney will , which will take place Friday at .

Sisney's remains arrived today at SFO, and soldiers from the were there to escort his casket from the airport.
