Sushi Plus Offers Fresh Surprises

The new Japanese restaurant serves traditional Japanese cuisine with an emphasis on fresh fish.

Upon entering Sushi Plus, patrons are warmly greeted by two smiling sushi chefs. The new Redwood City restaurant opened its doors three weeks ago and is seeing more business by the day.

Towards the end of the lunch hour on a Friday, a few patrons still remained, while many others stopped in to order take-out.

According to owner Hyun Lee, the specialty of Sushi Plus is sushi and sashimi, with an emphasis on the use of high quality fish.

“Freshness is the key,” said Lee.

Some of the specialty rolls on the menu include the ‘49ers Roll’ ($11.95), featuring salmon, avocado and sliced lemon; and the ‘Stanford Roll’ ($12.95), with Deep Fried Soft Shell crab, avocado, salmon, mango and tobiko.

Specialty sashimi items include live scallops, sea urchin, and long neck clam, all offered at market prices.

However, those looking for Japanese staples will not be disappointed.

Sushi Plus offers bento boxes, with chicken, beef or salmon teriyaki starting at $8.95 at lunch or $14.95 at dinner.

Hyun Lee and her husband have been in the United States nearly ten years and have worked at various Japanese restaurants, but their dream had always been to open their own place.

Sushi Plus is open daily for dinner as well as for lunch Monday through Saturday.

I agree, the public has the right to know what they are eating. It is absurd to be purchasing foodRead More that contains GMOs and not be able to know it is in the food.... why the secret if it is so safe??? I will not shop at any food stores that refuse to provide the public with information on what I am eating or serving to the people I care about. Trader Joes and Whole Foods have my loyalty for having the courage to stand up against the big guys and set an example by doing what is right for the consumer and not folding to pressure from Monsanto, Dupont and the other corporate giants that could care less about our safety and only care about how much money they can rake in.
