'Sol' Food Coming Soon to Downtown

Hector and Helena Sol, owners of the popular restaurants Palo Alto Sol and Vive Sol in Mountain View, have announced they will soon open another restaurant, Quinto Sol, right here in Redwood City, serving up their traditional, upscale Mexican cuisine.

If you're a fan of the nearby restaurants and , you may be delighted to know you soon won't have to travel outside of Redwood City to enjoy a plate of the Sol family's beloved Mexican cuisine.

Hector and Helena Sol, who hail from the Pueblo region of Mexico, will soon be expanding the family business with another peninsula location, right here in Redwood City.

To be called "Quinto Sol," the new restaurant will be located in the heart of downtown on Broadway Street, and is slated to open in the first week of June, according to Susan Barnes, economic development coordinator for the City of Redwood City.

"The California Avenue restaurant, Palo Alto Sol, is very popular," Barnes said. "The Sol family run a real, tried-and-true restaurant."

Barnes said she will be assisting the Sol family in reaching out to the Mayor and City Council for the restaurant's grand opening in June.

Palo Alto Sol, which has been around for more than 10 years, has an elegantly-styled dining room, and a popular, full-service tequila bar.

"This place is amazing! The food is delicious and authentic," says longtime customer A.J. on Palo Alto Sol's Yelp page. "Come here if you want delicious Mexican food. It's family-owned, and the owners Hector and Helena are great."

Another five-star review by Yelper Nathan S., this time for Mountain View's Vive Sol, said, "Excellent quality, authentic-style Mexican food! They have a good selection of entrees and excellent margaritas.  The service is wonderful.  Ambiance intimate, with dimmed lighting and excellent decor."

In fact, one of the only negative things any reviewer has to say about either Palo Alto Sol or Vive Sol is, that the restaurants are so popular, it can sometimes be hard to get a table. But, after a wait, most say, both locations are worth the wait.

So mark your calendars, and be sure to stay tuned to on Redwood City Patch for all the details when the restaurant is ready to open for business.

This is a much more effective means for dealing with the issue. Legislation is not.

I agree, the public has the right to know what they are eating. It is absurd to be purchasing foodRead More that contains GMOs and not be able to know it is in the food.... why the secret if it is so safe??? I will not shop at any food stores that refuse to provide the public with information on what I am eating or serving to the people I care about. Trader Joes and Whole Foods have my loyalty for having the courage to stand up against the big guys and set an example by doing what is right for the consumer and not folding to pressure from Monsanto, Dupont and the other corporate giants that could care less about our safety and only care about how much money they can rake in.
