Redwood City's 'Sweet Stop' Returns

Previously closed for three years, the Sweet Stop has re-opened under new management to once again offer its signature coffee, pastries, ice cream and more.

Old fans of the Sweet Stop at 312 Arguello St. are going to be very happy, indeed.

The business, which once reigned on Arguello Street for more than 20 years, closed down three years ago and has been vacant, ever since.

However, the Sweet Stop is back, in a big way--now under new management, the business celebrated it's Grand Re-Opening on Friday, Oct. 21, and is once again open for business.

"So far, so good," said the Sweet Stop's new manager, Wilfredo Gonzalez. "For the first week being open, it's been OK."

Gonzalez said, he hopes locals will once again learn to turn to the Sweet Stop when they are in the mood for a quick cup of coffee or cold drink, or when their sweet tooth is itching for a good ice cream cone, milkshake or pastry.

The small shop has a few tables and chairs people can sit and watch the world go by while enjoying their treats, and, in keeping with the times, the shop offers wi-Fi service, and a television above the counter where one can watch all the sports games.

In addition to coffee, ice cream and pastries, Sweet Stop offers cold drinks like Snapple, Pellegrino water, soda, and one of its most popular items, Rock Star energy drinks.

Its other signature item, that the Sweet Stop was known for when it was open before and is definitely offering again, is Double Rainbow ice cream.

"We're looking into also being able to offer sandwiches too, hopefully in the near future," Gonzalez said.

In the meantime, Sweet Stop offers fresh waffle cones, frozen banana pops, hot cocoa, and to-go munchies like chips, cookies, gums, mints and candy.

So, when you're in the mood for something quick and sweet, now you know where to stop - the Sweet Stop!

Sweet Stop is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday.  Find them at 312 Arguello St., next to La Fiesta Restaurant.

Vanessa and ctpiazza, Buckley Stone at Pete's Harbor says it is because some time ago the CityRead More dredged near muni and ran a pipe under to spill it out at Bair Island, so it is actually the remains of rotting sea life. He knows so much about this area having been at Pete's for 20 years and knowing so much about the area the tides and the nature and land around here.
