'Pizza and Pipes' Promising Changes Under New Management

The Redwood City eatery is holding a two-day reopening party that starts today.

A Redwood City pizza shop that's under new management is promising changes.

'"Pizza and Pipes" on 821 Winslow Street will feature a new recipe, according to store signage promoting a two-day "grand re-opening party" for today and tomorrow.

Not really fair to have link to Yelp reviews that were from previous Management and some as far back as 2006. You may want to hold off in the future giving Yelp a free plug when the reviews are not related to the restaurant since it has been under New Management. Are you trying to doom the Grand Re-Opening before it even starts? Please think before you just automatically link to Yelp. I am not familiar with the restaurant and if all I did was click on your recommendation to read really old Yelp reviews-I might not go there. I do read before I decide and maybe you should post a new article that clearly states that reviews from Yelp are from before the New Management took over. Thanks Gideon

I remember when the organists played the "pipes". The pizza was good, too.

Michael, Thanks for taking the time to comment. I've edited the story to make it more clear that the Yelp reviews are from when the store was under prior management.

I fondly remember the old "pipes" well (for a lowly pizza place, it was an amazingly huge, elaborate pipe organ across the entire back wall) ... and since the organ was long ago sold and relocated, the place ought to drop the now-nonsensical "pipes" from their name.

It would be more fair to the new owners if you edited out the reference and link to yelp completely

OK, Done.

Actually, from what I heard the new owners are the same as the Underground (check the yelp reviews on that place) on Broadway. What a complete dive that place is! The front patio area looks like someones broken smoke area. Hope they get their act together fast. Redwood City should not accept these types of business owners when others are trying so hard.

hmmm... not sure what "these types of business owners" means, or the definition of "someones broken smoke area". I have walked by the Underground as late past midnight, and never had a speck of trouble from people in the "broken smoke area". The Underground is a filled storefront in downtown RWC, paying property tax, paying sales tax, drawing people that may well have had dinner or a movie beforehand, and with customers that pay lots of taxes on their cigarettes.

Good question, cipiazza. This is probably related to a sewage pipeline replacement project takingRead More place nearby.

Vanessa and ctpiazza, Buckley Stone at Pete's Harbor says it is because some time ago the CityRead More dredged near muni and ran a pipe under to spill it out at Bair Island, so it is actually the remains of rotting sea life. He knows so much about this area having been at Pete's for 20 years and knowing so much about the area the tides and the nature and land around here.
