Geeks Swarm !SXSW Event, Fail at Pi Contest

Palo Alto resident Manu Kumar could barely find a venue large enough to accommodate his !SXSW event.

More than 100 geeks, CEOs, venture capitalists and other tech professionals swarmed Monday night to celebrate Pi Day and do some outside-of-Austin networking.

Organized by investor Manu Kumar, CEO of Palo Alto-based K9 Ventures, the event, "!SXSW"—that's geek for "not South by Southwest"—was a boisterous mixer, and Kumar insists that at least one person at the event should have landed a new job because of it.

What a great article. Definitely wish I could have gone to SXSW but it's cool that something was happening in Palo Alto!

Actually the event was held at the British Bankers Club in Menlo Park. They were originally going to hold it in Palo Alto. But the event got too big for Palo Alto to handle.
