Free Summer Meals for Low-Income Youth  

School's out and most children are buzzing about the excitement summer brings.  But for the 1 in 3 children who rely on school meals in our region, summer can bring long days filled with hunger.  Thankfully, they have the support of many community organizations and schools that continue to provide meals to children during the summer.   Second Harvest Food Bank has developed a lists of the summer meal sites open to youth 18 and under in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.  Any child can be served a meal at these open sites, no questions asked, whether or not they are registered in the program where the meal site is located.  The summer meal program is for children only, not adults, due to State/Federal requirements.  Your help spreading the word about the availability of these free meals for children in need is appreciated!  Locally,  the following sites are providing meals during the following schedule: 

• Henry Ford School: 2498 Massachusetts, Redwood City, 7/2-7/27 (closed 7/4), Breakfast 7:00am-8:20am, Lunch 10:00am-10:35am

• Kennedy Middle School: 2521 Goodwin Ave., Redwood City, 6/25-7/20 (closed 7/4), Lunch 10:15am-10:35am

• Fair Oaks Elementary School: 2950 Fair Oaks Ave., Redwood City, 6/18-7/27 (closed 7/4), Lunch 10:00am-10:45am

• Garfield School: 3600 Middlefield Rd. Menlo Park, 6/18-8/10 (closed 7/4), Lunch 12:00pm-12:30pm

• Boys & Girls Club-Melvin G. Morris Clubhouse: 1109 Hilton St., Redwood City, 6/18-7/27 (closed 6/25, 7/4, 7/23), Lunch 11:30am-11:50am

• Taft Elementary School: 903 10th Ave., Redwood City, 6/25-7/27 (closed 7/4, 7/26), Lunch 12:15pm-12:30pm
