Classic Car Dealership Acquires New Warehouse in Redwood City

Specialty Sales Classics grand opening will feature live music, free gourmet pizza, wine, and beautiful cars on Sept. 29.

The largest classic car dealership in California recently acquired a showroom in Redwood City, featuring a collection of sleek vintage cars. Established in 1978, Specialty Sales Classics now occupys two other locations in Pleasanton and Fairfield.

“Specialty Sales Classics is a great place to sell your classic car, and a great place to buy one too,” said sales manager Gregory Franklin. As an art major, Franklin has been interested in classic cars since before he could walk, regarding each vintage car as a work of art.

“Cars are much more than a means of transportation, they encapsulate some of all our memories, provide a canvas for our personal expressions, and create dialogue for many of us who otherwise might be socially inept,” he said. “Great ice breakers.”

Franklin is the oldest full-time employee at Specialty Sales Classics, and began working for the dealership in 2004.

“Back in early 04 I was trying to buy an AC Cobra from the dealership,” Franklin said. “The manager noticed I was good with people, and offered me a job on the spot.” Franklin has been with the company ever since.

Specialty Sales Classics has grown immensely in recent years, resulting in the need to relocate from San Carlos to Redwood City because of its size.

“When we were operating out of San Carlos, we sold about 17 to 25 cars a month,” Franklin said. “Now we’re selling at least 25 to 40.”

The grand opening for the dealership’s new location is on Sat. Sept. 29, and will feature live music, free gourmet pizza, wine, treats and beautiful classic cars.
