The end of the year and the decade is upon us. And what kind of celebration would it be without a little bubbly? For those of you who are not fully prepared for the day, Patch has gone out and found the best Redwood City deals on champagne for your celebration.
The city has many great choices from which to shop. Here is your Patch guide to your some great bottles at an even better price.
prides itself on dealing with the smaller European vineyards that do not work with importers or distributers. Here, Senior Wine Specialist Ralph Sands highly recommends the Michel Arnould champagne, sold for $40.
"I like them all but there are different styles," Sands said. "Arnould is very bold, rich and very long in the mouth, with a long finish."
Other champagnes available are Ariston champagne for $34.99, Bruno Michel Brut Champagne for $35, and Michel Loriot champagne for $29.99. K&L is open New Year's Eve 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Wine Globe at 30 Stein Am Rhein Court will be open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., depending how busy the store is, said the manager. Vijay Ranabhat said he recommends staying traditional and buying Dom Perignon Champagne on sale for $144. He said this is also the champagne that sells the best.
, which is open New Year's Eve 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., has many choices within reasonable prices. Wine Specialist Don Crawford recommends Roederer Estate Brut Champagne, $20.99.
"For the price, I think it's the best," he said.
Also available is Piper Heidsieck Champagne for $28.99, J Cuvee champagne for $26.99, and Presto Prosecco Brut for $10.99.
, which is open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., displays some great deals. The store recommends its Grande Reserve Cuvee Choppin Brut for $29.99 or its Didier Choppin Brut for $29.99. Both are "high-end champagnes" but for great prices, according to the store's staff.
on Redwood Shores Parkway has normal hours from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. It features Mums Champagne for $12.99, Veuvue Clicqut champagne for $44, and Moet & Chandon champagne for $28.99.
Best Deal: If your tastes guide you to the popular names but still with a budget in mind, head to Whole Foods or Nob Hill Foods. Both stores have a nice selection with sales going on. Should you be one of those folks who likes the finer, more rare things in life, head to K&L Wine Merchants for quality selections from lesser known vineyards.
