ARTSRWC:Water Water flows @ The Main Gallery

New Exhibit is a tribute to mixed media artist Nancy Terrebone's creative spirit.

YO REDWOOD CITY!

Ok, here is my last entry for the week, highlighting all the fabulous ART happenings in our City.  Last but not least is a new show opening next week at The Main Gallery.  Here is some info 4u.

Water Water: apropos to life’s cycle, is a timely yet emotional art exhibit honoring the life, art, and passing of The Main Gallery member, Nancy Terrebonne. The work of twelve of The Main Gallery members (including that of Nancy Terrebone) focuses on water, the source of life. Contributing artists include:  Nancy Terrebonne, Pixie Couch, Sue Fast, Jeanne Gadol, Elizabeth Gomez, Katinka Hartmetz, Nina Koepcke, Erna Metzger, Andrea Rosenman, David Scouffas, Robert Terrebonne, and Susan Wolf.

The show opens Wednesday, September 11th, and runs through Sunday, October 13th. The Main Gallery, located at 1018 Main Street in Redwood City, will be hosting an opening reception with the artists on Saturday, September 14th, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Among mixed media artist, Nancy Terrebonne’s (1935 – 2013) favorite subjects are fanciful fish and coral. Water Water is an exhibit originally conceived by and now inspired by and dedicated to her creative spirit. Terrebonne painted in many different mediums, including watercolors, oils, inks, pastels, and acrylics. She described herself as “especially liking to create mixed media art.” Applying a technique of painting with watercolor and sumi ink on crinkled masa paper Terrebonne says “challenged her imagination and resulted in artworks with an abstract quality and a batik-like look.”

All who knew Nancy Terrebonne will miss her devotion, wit, and creativity. She was an active member of the art community in the San Francisco Bay Area and in Maui, Hawaii.

Just as water comes and water goes with its own rhythm as it flows, The Main Gallery’s Water Water show will affect us all a little differently.  However, taking in the art is sure to calm, inspire, stimulate, and be a reminder of dedication to life.

Glad u asked!  I will be @Mountain View Art & Wine on Castro in downtown MV.  Come and see me.  Show hours are 10-6 each day.  I will most likely be on Castro between Mercy and Church, probably on the left side if you are facing El Camino....It is a big show, and a very good show.  Hope to see you there.
